Ejari + DEWA Setup Guide
New tenant in Dubai or Abu Dhabi? You must register in Ejari (or Tawtheeq in Abu Dhabi) BEFORE applying for DEWA/ADDC utilities. Here's the exact order.
1
Sign your tenancy contract
Before anything else, you need a signed tenancy contract from your landlord. Make sure it includes: full property address, landlord name and Emirates ID/passport number, your name and Emirates ID (or passport if you don't have your ID yet), annual rent amount, start and end dates, number of cheques.
โ ๏ธ Important: The tenant name on the contract must exactly match your Emirates ID/passport. Mismatches cause Ejari rejection.
In Abu Dhabi, the contract must be registered in Tawtheeq (ADREC system) rather than Ejari. The principle is identical โ different system, different name.
